Historic Copper Lanterns Inspired By The Vendue Range

Now a street leading to the beautiful Waterfront Park built in the 1970s, the Vendue Range at the east end of Queen Street was once the center of commerce in the city that was marked by copper outdoor lighting to guide patrons. As the location of the markets moved to Market Street, the street became the site of auctions known as Vendue sales. As steamships came to Charleston, which necessitated large wharves, the area became a the home of the Clyde Steamship Line until the 1950s, when it fell into disrepair until the revival 20 years later.
