The Alpin Cities Collection wall lantern is the first in our Cities Collections, representing the classic Art Deco architecture of Miami, Florida. The style flourished from the 1920’s through the 1940’s, representing glamour, exuberance, and belief in technological progress. Unique to the Miami Art Deco movement, buildings were erected with intricate craft motifs juxtaposed with machine-age imagery in bright pastel colors. Today there are over 800 Art Deco structures in Miami on the National Register of Historic Buildings, including our inspiration the McAlpin building. With strong geometric shapes and an emphasis on symmetry, the McAlpin truly epitomizes this dazzling era in Miami architecture.
